Oil prices up on word US ship fired on Iranian boats (Oil-Prices)

NEW YORK _ Oil prices rose sharply Friday on news that a ship under contract to the U.S. Defence Department fired warning shots at two Iranian boats. Retail gas prices as expected rose further into record territory, nearing US$3.60 a gallon _ just under 95 cents a litre.Word that a U.S. ship had fired on the boats in the Persian Gulf raised concerns that a conflict between U.S. and Iranian forces could cut oil supplies from the region. Light, sweet crude for June delivery jumped as high as US$11

The Red Sox got some more bad news about another minor leaguer yesterday. According to SoxProspects.com, last year’s first round draft pick Nick Hagadone is set to undergo Tommy John surgery after feeling something pop in his elbow. Gordon Edes says the Red Sox are actually waiting on a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews before deciding on a course of action. Anytime you hear or read the name Dr. Andrews anywhere, it’s usually not a good thing. But let’s it is minor and Hagadone is back on
